Thanks to u/PiggyWigglyDeluxe for pointing out my incorrect wording. If you want to extract everything this platform has to offer, read on! If you just want to have fun. There is no "perfect setup", it's all about what YOU want and what YOU like. I highly recommend you experiment on your own - this guide is simply meant to nudge you in the right direction.

This guide is intended for people who enjoy upgrading their vehicles as much as I do – keep in mind that most of what is suggested below is purely subjective and my personal preference, formed after extensive research and experimentation. Most of these upgrades make the vehicle objectively "better" but realistically speaking, you don't need any of them. They're great trucks that perform very well out of the box.
TRAXXAS 1 8 E REVO VXL UPGRADE
This is my definitive tuning and upgrade guide for the Traxxas 1/16 E-Revo – which applies to both brushed and brushless VXL versions.Ī QUICK DISCLAIMER: I don't mean to scare any prospective owners away from owning one of these little buggers. 1200mAh Traxxas 6-cell 7.After spending months seeing people constantly ask what kind of upgrades their 1/16 E-Revos need, what kind of suspension setups people recommend, and seeing how many varied and contradictory answers end up being posted.2-amp 12V DC Peak Detecting Fast Charger.Adjustable steering and throttle end points.Adjustable steering and throttle sensitivity (exponential).Adjustable steering and throttle percentage (dual rates).Automatically stores and loads settings for up to 30 Traxxas Link-enabled models.
TRAXXAS 1 8 E REVO VXL FULL

TRAXXAS 1 8 E REVO VXL INSTALL
Install a second 6-cell battery to unleash the Velineon Brushless Power System's full fury, and E-Revo VXL jumps to over 50mph. At 30+mph with the included 6-cell NiMH battery, E-Revo VXL is nearly twice as fast as most mini models, and faster than most electric RTR trucks of any scale. Some mini-models are "fast for a mini." That's not good enough for Traxxas.
